AARP Tax Aide

Team, 

Starting 02/01/18 at OAK, AARP will be coming in and utilizing our Meeting Room. Until 04/17/18, please make sure not to double book the Meeting Room during the times AARP is scheduled. 

Also, make sure our customers are aware that HPL programs and events sponsored by us have priority over their requests. 

The AARP Tax Aide schedule is as follows:

Wednesday - 10 AM - 2 PM
Thursday - 12 PM - 4 PM
Saturday - 10 AM - 2 PM

Our ASZ craft today @ OAK was a huge hit! The teens had fun expressing their artistic creativity using Perler beads. Here are a few snapshots of their hard at work and the fruits of their labor. 

New Training Portal

Team,

We would like to share some of the amazing features of the new Training Portal that was launched along with the new HPL Intranet. Please see below for some of the highlights of the new training portal!

Training Portal

• Same interface for easy navigation and consistency
• Addition of a side menu within each page for easier access to topics of interest

Training Calendar

• Automatic registration for all dates in a training series – no longer have to register for each day in a series
• Option to add registered training to Outlook calendar
• Option to cancel registration – no longer have to email HPL Training for cancellations
• Option to request to be placed on the Waitlist for any training on the calendar – waitlisted staff will be automatically registered and notified via email as cancellations are processed

To access the new Training Portal, please click here and bookmark this new site for quick access. The old portal is now disabled, so please replace any old bookmarks with this new one.

New HPL Intranet Login

There have been some changes to how we access the intranet. 

Simply follow these steps:

To access the intranet (in-house and remote):

·     Type in houstonlibrary.libguides.com

·     Click on “Reset Password” button

·     Enter your COH Outlook email address and click on the “Reset Password” button;

·     Check your COH Outlook email for a message from do-not-reply@libapps.com;

·     Click on the “Reset my password” link;

·     Create your new password. You only have to do this once.

·     Then click on “Return to login”.

·     Proceed to log in to your account;

You can now access all areas of the intranet and the training portal.

Tips:

• Bookmark the site on your staff computer as well as shared staff computers.
• If you are using a shared staff computer, you don’t have to log out since the login is not connected to any personal information.
• If your COH email is not recognized, send HelpDesk an email.

Important Staff Information

Contractors from Coit Cleaning will be coming by (time to be confirmed) to clean the upholstery at your location. We will need a staff member(s) to be on site during the cleaning to provide access. Because of the necessary drying time, your location will need to be closed for the day. Staff chairs will be included, so staff working that day will need to use a meeting room chair or other non-upholstered chair to sit in while the chairs dry.
